Program Description:

The Master Planning program prepares master plans for OPRD properties, evaluates proposed park sites, and conducts special studies related to recreational use and development. It conducts long-term plans for properties in conjunction with outside agencies, advocacy groups, providers, local jurisdictions and the general public. The program also conducts heritage assessments of OPRD holdings to incorporate into the master plans. Finally, the program is conducting an ongoing Willamette River Greenway Resource Assessment to plan and coordinate development and use of public and private properties along the Willamette River.

Records Description:

The Master Planning Records, Heritage Assessment Records, and the Willamette River Greenway Resource Assessment Records document the planning for park facilities and use.

Below is a series list designating their retentions:

040 Master Planning Records, 1970-ongoing - Retain plans permanently, transfer to State Archives after 20 years. Retain all other records 20 years, destroy.

041 Heritage Assessment Records - Retain 50 years, destroy.

042 Willamette River Greenway Resource Assessment Records, 1967-ongoing - Retain permanently, transfer to State Archives after 20 years.

Program Description:

The Natural Resource Management program assesses, evaluates, and classifies natural resources on OPRD properties and other areas under OPRD management. The program identifies issues, problems and potential solutions. The program consists of the Ecologist who oversees the status of wildlife and the Forester who oversees the status of the forests under OPRD control.

Records Description:

The Forest Management Contracts, Forestry Agreements, Stand Exams, and Stand Inventory document the management of timber resources. The Wildlife and Habitat Management Records document the monitoring of wildlife in the parks. The Investigation Files document the investigation and resolution of problems in natural resource management.

Below is a series list designating their retentions:

043 Forest Management Contracts - Retain 20 years after expiration, destroy.

044 Forestry Agreements - Retain 10 years after expiration, destroy.

045 Investigation Files - Retain 10 years, destroy. Some information may be exempt from public disclosure as authorized by ORS 192.501(3) for the life of the records.

046 Stand Exams - Retain 10 years, destroy.

047 Stand Inventory - Retain summaries 50 years, destroy. Retain other records until superseded, destroy.

048 Wildlife and Habitat Management Records - Retain for ownership of park, destroy.
