Duties and Responsibilities: A five-member governing board of citizens, appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate, oversees the Department of Geology and Mineral Industries. The board sets policy, oversees general operations, and adopts a strategic plan every six years to guide DOGAMI’s mission and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Nature of the Northwest Information Center offers one-stop shopping for maps, books, reports and research related to earth science, natural hazards, outdoor recreation and more. Visitors to Nature of the Northwest, located in DOGAMI’s Portland offices, can also get hands-on help with interactive maps, archives and historic resources. Center hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., or visit the online store.
The center was established in 1992 as DOGAMI’s retail outlet and information resource.
