Occupational Therapy Licensing Board > Web site
The Occupational Therapy Licensing Board was created in 1977 and regulates occupational therapy practice to ensure that only qualified persons provide occupational therapy services. The board sets the standards of practice and examines applicants for licensure, issues licenses to qualified applicants, and renews licenses every two years. The board investigates complaints and takes appropriate disciplinary action when violations are discovered. The board also monitors the continuing education and supervision of occupational therapy assistants.
Members of board are appointed by the governor, confirmed by the Senate and serve four-year terms. There are five members: two occupational therapists, one occupational therapy assistant and two public members. The board is supported by application and license fees. There is an executive director and one part-time staff person located in the board’s Portland office.
