Present Duties

The mission of the Oregon Racing Commission (ORC) is to regulate and facilitate all aspects of the pari-mutuel industry in the state for the benefit of the citizenry, the licensees, the participants and the economy of Oregon.


The agency was formed in 1933. The ORC employs 13 full-time equivalent staff and has one administrative office. The ORC licenses approximately 3,400 licensees that participate in horse racing in the state and also licenses nine advance deposit wagering companies.
