Present Duties
The Board of Medical Imaging was established in 1977 as the Board of Radiologic Technology. The board works to ensure the quality of diagnostic radiography, radiation therapy, diagnostic medical sonography, nuclear medicine technology and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) through ethics and competency standards for licensing radiologic technologists, radiation therapists, sonographers, nuclear medicine technologists and MRI technologists. The board administers limited scope examinations to determine initial competence to practice for limited X-ray machine operators (LXMO) and approves continuing education offerings to technologists, therapists, sonographers and limited X-ray machine operators.
