Duties and Responsibilities: The Command Group consists of the adjutant general; Joint Force Headquarters, including the assistant adjutants general for support and operations; Land Component commander; Air Component commander; and the interagency director. The group administers all components of the Oregon National Guard in cooperation with the governor and state Legislature.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Installations Division provides and maintains quality installations to support the missions of the Oregon Army National Guard.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Public Affairs Office supports the adjutant general’s communication plan. This includes community outreach, social media, print, video and graphic design efforts. Oregon’s Military Department and National Guard bring more than $350 million in annual economic impact to the state.


In addition, strategic communications for internal audiences across the Army and Air National Guard and state personnel are as critical to the success of the organization as maintaining and building external stakeholder relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Office of Emergency Management executes the governor’s responsibilities to maintain an emergency services system to deal with emergencies or disasters that may present threats to the lives and property of Oregon’s citizens. The agency coordinates and facilitates emergency planning, preparedness, response and recovery activities with state and local emergency service agencies and organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Program is a statewide accredited, public, alternative high school that serves 16 to 18-year-old high school dropouts. The program is guided by military principles, structure and discipline, and consists of two phases. During the residential phase, cadets (students) live on-site for five months and attend school, where they earn credits to return to high school and earn their GED or high school diploma. The post-residential phase is a mandatory 12-month mentoring period during which cadets work with mentors from their home towns.
