Duties and Responsibilities: The Archives Division, established in 1947, houses and provides access to the permanently valuable records of Oregon government. Oldest documents at the archives include records of the provisional and territorial governments and the Oregon Constitution.
The division authorizes disposition of the public records of Oregon government, provides records management advice and assistance to state agencies and political subdivisions and operates the State Records Center which provides inexpensive storage for inactive state agency records. The division also files, codifies and publishes state agency administrative rules and publishes the Oregon Blue Book.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Audits Division was created in 1929 to carry out the duties of the secretary of state as the constitutional Auditor of Public Accounts. It is the only independent auditing organization in the state with authority to review programs of agencies in all three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. The division performs financial, performance, information technology, and other financial-related audits of state agencies and state-aided institutions in accordance with professional standards for government audits. The division administers Municipal Audit law through administrative rules and review of municipal audits, and conducts special investigations regarding potential misuse of state resources.
Business Services Division

Duties and Responsibilities: The Business Services Division provides centralized business and administrative support for the agency, including budgeting, payroll, purchasing, safety and risk management, and sales of secretary of state publications.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Corporation Division assists the public in registering business entities, filing public notice of records of debt, commissions notaries public, investigates notary complaints and provides certifications of records and notarized documents. The division provides the general public and businesses with access to public record information to help them learn more about those with whom they are doing business. The division also publishes the Oregon Business Guide and provides information on regulatory requirements and services available to citizens wanting to start a business or hire employees in Oregon.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Elections Division assures the uniform interpretation and application of Oregon’s election laws. The division provides the public, elected officials, candidates, the media and interested parties with advice and assistance in all matters related to elections.
The division receives candidate filings for state offices, initiative and referendum petitions,
campaign contribution and expenditure reports, and other election documents. The division publishes and distributes the state Voters’ Pamphlet for primary and general elections. Complaints of alleged election law violations are investigated and processed by the Elections Division.
Human Resources Division

Duties and Responsibilities: The Information Systems Division provides centralized technology services for the agency which include design, installation, configuration, maintenance and trouble-shooting services for hardware, software, and networks. The division also provides security and database administration as well as data backup and recovery.
